Nancy Ralston

Nancy Ralston draws upon her extensive teaching background when writing for children. As an educator for over thirty years, with a wide range of experiences – preschool through college, she never lacks for inspiration. In fact, sometimes it’s hard to contain the number of stories clamoring to be written. Her work has appeared in children’s magazines such as Ladybug and Humpty Dumpty. In addition, she has contributed to educational publishers such as CTB/McGraw-Hill and Holidays and Seasonal Celebrations.

A Fresno, California native, Nancy feels fortunate having grown up in the diverse Central Valley. As a teacher, she believes classrooms are enriched when they include students from varying backgrounds and cultures, and her stories reflect that experience. Family, acceptance, and the transformative power of friendship are recurring themes in Nancy’s work.

Nancy is a member of SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators), and divides her writing days between her hilltop home in Clovis and her rustic cabin in the High Sierras. When not writing, she enjoys reading (of course), spoiling her grandchildren and chickens, and volunteering as a docent at Fresno Chaffee Zoo.

A life-long learner, Nancy holds an Associate of Science degree in Child Development, a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development, and a Master of Arts degree in Education with an Emphasis in Literacy in Multilingual Contexts.
