Karen Ehrhardt

Children's Author

Karen Ehrhardt has always loved books, and couldn’t be happier to have found her voice as a professional author. When she was growing up in South Central LA in the 60s and 70s she never imagined she could be a writer!

Karen’s debut children’s picture book, This Jazz Man, landed on the NY Public Library's list “100 Titles for Reading and Sharing” is one of the "Multicultural Books Every Child Should Know" (NEA); was praised by The NYTBR as, “a whole lot of fun;” and PW called it “just right as an uptempo introduction for the youngest music lovers.”   Now, Karen turns her focus to world music with The Difference (Putnam; upcoming), the true story of singer Salif Keita, a West African child who overcame extreme physical, psychological and societal obstacles to become a superstar.

Karen is also a Mom, Brown alum, dog lover, San Francisco Giants fan, Whirligig, Vermont Colleger, Beverly alum, world traveler, native Californian, dessert enthusiast … and music lover, of course!
