Megan Hoyt

Children's Author

Megan Hoyt spent most of her childhood sloshing through puddles, climbing trees, and listening to thunderous music backstage at the symphony hall where her parents performed with the Dallas Symphony. Now she divides her time between writing children’s books and teaching child actors on the sets of major motion pictures (most recently Wonder Woman 2). She also speaks on educational topics at conferences for teachers in the US and Canada. She is an SCBWI Conference speaker and the winner of the 2017 SCBWI Work in Progress Award.

Her brand-new picture book biography Bartali's Bicycle (HarperCollins), the inspiring story of Gino Bartali, an Italian Tour de France winner who rose up to fight against the persecution of the Jews during World War II, comes out in Feb 2021. Two more non-fiction picture books (also with HarperCollins) are forthcoming in 2022.

Megan holds a BA in English and History (double major) from Southern Methodist University and an MA from Regent University in Virginia.  She lives in Charlotte, NC, where most days she is surrounded by three furry pups and piles upon piles of picture books. Although she still sloshes through puddles and climbs trees, she also enjoys playing classical guitar and going on nature walks with her husband.
